WaltoBaby2 has arrived… and her name is K.!

K.E. arrived at 36 + 1 weeks, at 14:53 on 03-14-2006. Once again, I was awakened from a deep sleep by the words, “My water just broke” and by 3:30 AM we were in the PET Unit at St. Barnabas in Livingston, NJ. Fetal monitoring showed a healthy and happy baby, with contractions occurring somewhat regularly every 7 minutes. Mom was dilated to only 2 cm., but feeling very uncomfortable, so after a few more hours she called for the epidural. Pain, as well as contractions, came to a screeching halt. Dilation was now at 2.5 – 3 cm., with almost no contraction activity. The baby was still happy, but faced with the prospect of possibly waiting another 30+ hours for full dilation, it was decided to go with the C-section.

A little while later, in the delivery room, we heard the cries of our newborn, and the announcement, “It’s a girl!” Very cool. K.’s first pictures, as well as hanging out in the hospital, and finally at home, can be found in the Photo Gallery.
