Here’s a link to an interesting (and from MSNBC, surprise surprise) retrospective to vanishing parts of American life…

I remember, when I was young and living with my family in North Philadelphia, how the milkman would deliver fresh milk to our front door in glass bottles with plastic handles around the neck and paper caps on top. I wish my kids could experience growing up knowing the simple personal service of home delivery of milk, or bread (from the Bond Bread man) instead of knowing nothing but driving to the supermarket on the weekends with Mom or stopping on the way home from work with Dad.
