Anyone have an idea? I’ve recently seen quite a few of them around the exterior of the house, flying and climbing on the siding, mostly when the sun is warm.
According to one source, this is a Jadera bug. However, I think it may actually be a close relative, the Boisea trivittata, the Eastern Box-elder Bug, as Jadera is mostly confined to Florida and the Southern states west to California.
I think it most appropriate today on Election Day that some of the other common names for this bug are Democrat Bug, Populist Bug, Politician Bug. in addition to Box Elder Bug and Maple Bug.
